The Scariest Book Ever

“The Scariest Book Ever” by Bob Shea is a delightful and funny read told from the perspective of a friendly ghost who seeks the help of the reader to progress the story. The illustrations easily catch the reader’s attention and seem to pop off the pages. Shea seamlessly integrates donuts, a kitten, pumpkin picking, and a “spooky” costume party in this hilarious story. His humor will appeal to both grown-ups and young children alike. This book would make a great light-hearted read-aloud around Halloween time (although it never actually mentions Halloween) specifically for Kindergarten- 3rd graders.
