Red: A Crayon’s Story

Red: A Crayon’s StoryRed

By: Michael Hall

Have you ever felt that you didn’t quite belong or fit in no matter how hard you tried?

Red: A Crayon’s Story by Michael Hall is a children’s picture book that will appeal to every person who has ever had these thoughts. Red, as he’s called, is a crayon that although labeled as red is actually a blue crayon in a red wrapper. Poor Red tries his hardest with the help of family, friends and teachers to fit in and be all things red – hearts, strawberries and oranges (with pal yellow) but no matter how hard he tries nothing he colors is red. His unhappiness disappears when he meets up with a new friend, Berry, who shows him a different viewpoint. Red finally realizes what the reader has known all along that he is blue! A picture book filled with humor, colorful illustrations and a very valuable lesson learned about being true to yourself.

An appropriate read to for ages 4-8.

Fans of Eric Carle and Lois Ehlert may also want to check out, My Heart is Like a Zoo and It’s an Orange Aardvark!, other stories by Michael Hall.
