Awesome YA Books! Great New Titles For Teens (And Adults)

Awesome YA Books! Great New Titles For Teens (And Adults)

By: Anders Arnold

Hello 2018! I can’t think of a better way to kick off the New Year than cracking open these YA titles, great for teens & adults. Here’s a small sample of recent new titles that I have read that’ll get the heart racing, the mind turning and your imagination flowing:

RENEGADES by Marissa Meyer – the newest entry to the wonderful world that only Meyer can create. Instead of twisting some fairy tales, she tackles superheroes with a glimpse of what it’s like to be a villain caught in the middle. Great read from start to finish, check it out!

THE LANGUAGE OF THORNS by Leigh Bardugo – If you’re a fantasy fan and you haven’t read her Grisha Trilogy or The Six of Crows duology, please stop reading this blog now and go get those books! The Language of Thorns is a companion piece to both series and is filled with short stories and fables from a fantasy world that’s almost too good to resist. If fantasy and short stories are your thing, than you’ll love this book.

FALCON (Marvel Legacy series) Volumes 1 & 2 by Rodney Barnes (writer, Marvel comics) – Sam Wilson started as Captain America’s sidekick, then he became Captain America, and now he’s back to his “roots” as The Falcon. Marvel fans rejoice as the Falcon has returned, badder and better than ever!

THE STUPIDEST SPORTS BOOK OF ALL-TIME
by Kathryn & Ross Petras
– I saw this book in the media center at FHS and I said, “I have to add this to the Teen Zone collection.” The book totally lives up to it’s title and highlights bonehead plays, funny quotes and unbelievable stories from the wacky world of sports. Even non-sports fans will get a kick out of this title.

NORSE MYTHS: TALES OF ODIN, THOR & LOKI by Kevin Crossley-Holland – The first thing you’ll notice is this book is visually awesome. The artwork will draw you in (ha-ha, get it?!?) and the stories will take you to a land of ice, warriors and magical monsters. Thor fans unite…your book is here!

ORANGE complete collections Volume 1 & 2 by Ichigo Takano – Calling all manga fans! This “new to our collection” offering is just a really great story. Girl in high school gets a letter from herself dated 10 years in the future. Now she has to choose the correct paths to help her friend. Cool blend of fantasy, school life and honest to goodness storytelling. Start your Orange adventure today!

STUFF THAT SUCKS by Ben Sedley – Another catchy title that I knew I had to read. This book dives into the realm of teen self-help and enables the reader to really think about what they are allowing into their life that can affect them emotionally. Quick read, and not your typical nonfiction/like a textbook style of writing.

RETRIBUTION RAILS by Erin Bowman – The wild, Wild West comes alive in this companion novel (first book Vengeance Road is great too). If you like action, adventure, gunfights and lingo from the Old West than you’ll definitely want to read this book. Giddy-up!
