Time Between Us

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Evanston, IL and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett has the ability to travel through time and space, which brings him into Anna’s life as the new boy in Anna’s prep school. The two become friends and Bennett eventually (and somewhat reluctantly) reveals his secret to her. He takes her on several adventures; not to other time periods (there are rules), but to other locations. They spend four hours in Thailand, for instance, and Anna finds that only 5 minutes has elapsed upon their return. As their relationship deepens, the two face the reality that time may knock Bennett back to where he belongs, even as a horrible crisis throws everything they believe into question. I can’t tell you what the “horrible crisis” is, but I can tell you that I thought the story line was…meh. Anna and Bennett were kind of bland, and their romance was not something that really drew me in. Also, it bothered me that the time difference was only seventeen years and not, say, a couple hundred.
So, why not read this and tell me what happened to Bennett’s sister, or what were the consequences of Bennett helping his father. For that matter, why does Bennett time travel at all? Let me know–you might change my mind.
