The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender

Ava LavenderThe Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender

By: Leslye Walton

This is a story about love but not a love story. Ava Lavender’s family has had their issues with falling in love. It often ends tragically. Their story starts in France with Ava’s great grandparents and tells of the magical and sometimes supernatural events that happen with her grandmother, mother and finally with Ava herself. Ava was born with the wings of a bird. Her mother Vivanne decides to keep her and her twin brother Henry sheltered in the big house on the hill. But Ava finds a way to meet her neighbors, find a best friend, and fall in love. This book is so beautifully written that it’s easy to get swept away by this haunting tale of love lost.
