The Pursuit of Mary Bennet

PursuitMaryBennet-pbThe Pursuit of Mary Bennet

By: Pamela Mingle

Jane Austen and Regency romance fans will love this spin on the Pride and Prejudice story.  While she did not steal the show in the original book, middle sister Mary has her moment in the spotlight in The Pursuit of Mary Bennet.  Mingle brings back all of the Bennet sisters, along with plenty of romance and drama to keep the reader engaged.

The book begins where Pride and Prejudice left off.  Jane, Elizabeth and Lydia are away with their husbands, while quiet Mary is home alone with her parents, entrenched in her solitary routine.  Younger sister Kitty spends time with Jane at the Bingley estate, and soon Mary joins them.  Her routine changes abruptly when she encounters a handsome, thoughtful man named Henry, who appears eager to make a match.

Mingle follows Austen’s lead and has plenty of obstacles between Mary and Henry, which makes the journey all the more fun for the reader.  From Kitty’s jealousy to Lydia’s antics, it seems as though Mary will never make it to the altar.  Her older sisters Jane and Elizabeth are the voices of reason and guide their middle sister towards her happy ending.

This is the perfect book to curl up with on a cool fall day.  So grab your pumpkin spice latte and enjoy a visit with the always enjoyable Bennet family!
