Thanks to everyone who has donated and/or purchased materials at the Fishers and Noblesville Friends Book Shops. Donated items, along with library discards, are made available for purchase and the money from the sales allows the Friends to help the library with non-budgeted programming or equipment needs.
The Friends of the Library recently approved $8,790 in requests for materials, equipment and programming. These requests included funding for three more programs in a music series, the purchase of microfilmed newspapers from the 1900s, 1930s and 1940s for the Indiana Room, the purchase of grayscale scanning memory boards/cards to be used in conjunction with computers connected to microfilm readers to allow patrons to print and/or scan microfilmed images, the purchase of display furniture for the Fishers Library, and the purchase of mobile dry-erase boards for meeting room use at both libraries.
Good weather is finally here and it is time to spring clean. We welcome your gently used books, CD’s and DVD’s, and since you will have more space, we also encourage you to shop for fabulous finds at both library’s book shops. That way we can continue to support library programs and purchase needed materials and equipment. Now would be a great time to shop for your summer beach reads so come check out the Books Shops which are located just inside the entrance at each building:
The Fishers Book Shop is currently open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Books and videos located on the shelves right outside the Book Shop are available for purchase all hours the library is open and payments made be made at the Circulation Desk.
The Noblesville Book Shop is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. plus Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. There is no ongoing sale at the Noblesville Library.
You do not have to be a Friends’ member to purchase items from the Book Shops. New members are always welcome, however, and a one year individual membership is only $5, a one year family membership is only $10.
